Forest Whispers… Wisdom Listens

In our home, we try, as best possible to keep Sunday sacred. A day without distractions, to slow down, sleep in, breathe and spend quality time together. When a few weeks ago my bubble of excitement burst as my husband had to work unexpectantly. After a rant I quickly got over myself and headed on my own hiking forest adventure. Honestly, I am very used to my own company, that wasn’t the challenge. The challenge was to silence my thoughts, accept all as perfect and not let my mind fall down an unnecessary rabbit hole.

Beginning the climb I passed a few strangers, shared hellos, some chit-chat about litter and the weather. Then shifting into a different gear I was on the next part of the mountain alone. I suddenly found myself having the most amazing experience. Energetically I was stopped in my tracks. And quickly dropped into a space of deep meditation, focused listening and awareness on a different level. Nature was communicating, and this is what ‘he/she/it’ said as I wrote this poem shortly after…

I See, I Feel…

On my left, native, spacious, sharing the light, crowns respectively leaving space and a slower frequency.

On my right, foreign, regimented rows, consuming the light, stabilising the slope and a faster frequency.

If trees could talk. What would they say? What would their rings of wisdom reveal?

Left wing, Right bank, Northern border, Southern hemisphere.

Round and around it goes, they have seen and felt it all. With a network of unseen branches rooted. They are one, connected, quietly communicating.

Holding space, Each needed, Inhaling CO2, Exhaling O2.

They Simply Serve.

And as I fine tune my blog today I am again asked to be still. My thoughts are reminded of the Legendary Truce during World War Two of 1914. Historians still debate the unknown reason that over a hundred thousand people at war simultaneously stopped in their tracks in the trenches. Maybe it too was wisdom whispering? And, if happened once, it will truly keep happening again and again. Like a snowball of awakening gathering speed and strength.

May the wisdom of our true nature whisper it’s sacred message to us all over the holidays. And like the snowball may its grace continue to awaken with love, strength and courage.
